Being accountable doesn’t mean hanging my head in shame or hating myself forever. It doesn’t mean letting people walk all over me for having made mistakes in my past. It doesn’t mean taking on the entire situation as if I’m the only one who played a role. Once I stop my harmful behavior and atone for my transgressions, when I have cleared my debt, I am free.
